Was made with a very poor engraving This was a gun that Sauer made to take a stand against the very much cheaper imported guns from Spain, Italy and East Germany. The price was low and Sauer used the most modern production technique that mostly was developed during the war.

Two models that was made with a very poor engraving. These two guns Sauer made to take a stand against the very much guns from Spain, Italy and East Germany. Especially as a stand against the Thälemann made m/8 (a copy of Sauer & Sohn m/8) The price was low and Sauer used the most modern production technique that mostly was developed during the war.
Model 54 or BBF54 (1953 to 1988)
Caliber 12,16 & 20, as BockFlinte, BockBüchsFlinte and Doppelstudzen or in English: O/U shotgun, cape gun or combination gun and double rifle. It was made in a various of rifle bullet calibers. Over and under shotgun with the locks on the triggerplate (Blitz action) English stock or pistol grip with cheek piece. Double lugs on barrel, Kersten cross bolts Safety on the top strap Scalloped action has a straight ending towards the stock, loading indicators on action side, double triggers Ejector or extractor
By many viewed to be the best Sauer to be made after the second world war. When it was introduced the price was higher than for the drilling. Sought after on the second hand market with rather high prices. Very rightfully so - if you find one, and you can afford it - buy it. You wont be disappointed.

Purdey double sliding bolt with Greener cross bolt Greener safety on the side Scalloped action has a straight ending towards the stock, loading indicators on top strap, double triggers Extractor Was made in a at least two versions: standard (STD), premium (LUX), lightweight with alloy acion (DUR), barrels of Böhler Antinit Steel (ANT) The last versions had separate handling of the lock for the rifle barrel.

Is this a US model since I can find no trace of it in Europe?

Is this a US model since I can find no trace of it in Europe?
Model “SauerBeretta” O/U (1959 to 1979) This is more or less the standard Beretta S55 (STANDARD) or S56 (IMPERIAL) just cobranded Sauer.
Model “SauerBeretta” O/U (1979 to 1984) This is more or less the standard Beretta 686 (REGENT formerly STANDARD) or S686 Silver Pigeon (FAVORIT formerly IMPERIAL) and as DIPLOMAT. Beretta guns, just cobranded Sauer.
Model “SauerBeretta” VIII or m/8 (1960 to 1970) This is the normal copy of Sauers m/8 that AyA started to make rather early. Please see AyA model pages.
Model “SauerFranchi” O/U (1984 to 1990) This is the normal O/U from Franchi sold in three different models: REGENT, FAVORIT or DIPLOMAT.
